TRIFLES by Susan Glaspell
by Ivan Talijančić and MFA ITPP, Rose Bruford College
On a blustery winter evening in the midwestern American wasteland, a woman is found alone and listless in her home, her husband’s lifeless body resting in their bedroom upstairs. While a group of men combs the premises in a futile effort to resolve the deadly crime, their wives secretly uncover the clues leading to the murder.
In this innovative production, a 1916 whodunnit is interpreted through a strikingly modern lens. This staging revisits the original play’s presciently feminist slant, prompting new questions about agency, representation, and violence in the contemporary world.
